Where you are is not where you’re going to be: Just because you grew up in a certain place
doesn’t meant that this is where you will end up. It may be a stepping stone for where you are
going to be but it does not mean that’s where you have to stay.
Have a purpose: The difference between depression and joy is purpose. When you wake up in
the morning and your life means something to someone else’s life than that is your purpose.
Strive to live a life of service to humanity, your church, or more importantly to others.
Commit: The road to success is through commitment. You need to have the strength to drive
through the hard times and make a commitment that you will not quit. It is going to get hard and
you are going to want to quit sometimes but be committed to yourself and others.
Don’t be outworked: The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is I’m not
afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than
me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those
things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there’s two
things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple.
Be amazing at what you do: I love this rule for success because you leave 100% of whatever
you decide to do on the field. If you choose to do something make sure you give the effort to
really be amazing at or don’t do it at all.
