Today’s meme in the MEMEing of Life series says, “Three types of people to stay away from: Uninspired, Unexcited, Ungrateful.”
There is no faster way to lose your ambition and love for life or what you are doing than by surrounding yourself with the wrong people. Watch out for these life suckers:
- The person who, no matter how excited you are about a project or opportunity, always finds a way to point out 15 different reasons your idea won’t work, why nobody will buy what you are selling, or why you should completely scrap your project. It’s good to have friends and associates who help you work through possible adversities you may face, but if an individual rarely has new ideas or constructive feedback to add to the conversation, then they aren’t actually helping you.
- The dreadful coworker who has you choosing to hike up 20 flights of stairs instead of sharing an elevator. They always look like they have just returned from attending a funeral and never show an ounce of enthusiasm or inspiration about anything, no matter how excited everyone around them might be. These folks aren’t just downers to be around, their attitudes can be infectious, prompting you to tear down your dreams from the inside and lose your own sense of excitement and inspiration.
- Someone who is unappreciative of everything they are fortunate enough to have. Their car is not expensive enough. Their nine-bedroom, ten-bathroom house is too small. Their plush office doesn’t have enough of a waterfront view. No matter what it is, it is never enough. They often fill your ear with reasons why they deserve more out of life and leave you feeling exhausted. Yet, they never seem to find the incentive to work harder or make select sacrifices to get these things they feel they deserve. Worse, they may make you feel resentful and take the excitement out of your accomplishments.
To be successful and happy in life, it’s important to surround yourself with the right people and not those who will drag you down. Choose friends, associates and close family members carefully. Surround yourself with those who make you excited about the possibilities that life brings and give you the energy to be fearless!
