Martin Luther King Jr. truly lived by his words

It was only fair that today’s blog be dedicated to Martin Luther King Junior; after all, his name is recognized all over the world. In a nutshell, Martin Luther King, Jr. is an individual who inspires me, motivates me, and makes me want to make a difference in the lives of people all over the world. One of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr. quotes is “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and controversy.”

How true is this in our everyday lives; particularly, our work lives and friendships? Martin Luther King Jr. truly lived by the words he spoke. He challenged civil rights and used his Christian beliefs to better the lives of those around him, those who followed him, and specifically African Americans.

It would have been easy for Martin Luther King Jr. to remain in the comfort and convenience of his everyday life; instead he challenged the world and thrived during controversy. These are just a couple of the reasons he is remembered as one of the greatest leaders in American history.

Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King Jr.! (January 15th) You changed civil rights forever and for that, we’re thankful for your commitment to bettering the world we live in.
